Mitch recently was an Assistant Baseball Coach at UMass Amherst. Prior to coaching he was a pitcher for the Sioux Falls Pheasants in the American Association League. While pitching for Sioux Falls, Mitchell made 20 starts and compiled a record of 9-6, tying him for 5th among all American Association pitchers in wins. Mitchell pitched 124.1 innings to lead the Pheasants in innings pitched. Mitch was an outstanding lefty pitcher for the UMass Minutemen and was later selected by the Washington Nationals in the 21st round, No. 622 overall, of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. During his senior season with the Minutemen, in 2009, he went 7-1 in 91 innings pitched with 81 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.15. Mitch is available for pitching lessons.
